Dolly’s is thrilled to welcome author Lisa Smith with her book Girl Walks Out of a Bar — for an author event here at the store on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 6:30 pm!
Lisa Smith was a good girl – a star student – whose hard work and determination took her straight to the top with a job at a New York City law firm. But while she was making an impression on the law partners and working seemingly endless hours, there was always a cocktail or two with co-workers at the end of the day. Followed by wine. And beer. And then later, cocaine. By the time Lisa admitted herself to rehab, she was hiding the fact that she consumed about a bottle of wine and a few lines of coke before heading to work in the morning. In the midst of her successful career, Smith suddenly realized that living with addiction wasn’t just putting her career on the line – it was also threatening her life.
Girl Walks out of a Bar is Lisa’s debut memoir. It’s a story of the smart girl who hid her inner shame and insecurity in a bottle of Merlot while sitting behind her desk in an expensive suit. It is also the book wished she could have read when she needed help.
